Entrance.

The Epcot Center landmark, Spaceship Earth, is a geosphere.
Because nothing like Spaceship Earth existed before,
this term was "invented" by the Imagineers to describe it.
This giant "golf ball" is 180'high, 165' in diameter,
and is no lightweight at 16 million pounds.
This is one ball that won't roll away though, its' supports
are sunk between 120' and 185' into the ground.
Narrated by Jeremy Irons, the ride inside this man-made
spectacle is sponsored by AT&T and showcases
the history and future of communication.

It starts with the Cro-Magnon man, visits a Phoenician scene,
shows the importance of the Roman roads,
Benedictine monks reproducing religious manuscripts,
the Renaissance period,
and continues on to electricity, the telegraph, telephone,
radios, television and motion pictures,
up to computers and possibilities that the near future may hold.
